If you plan to drive while overseas, you need to determine whether you will need an international driver's license. While some countries do not recognize U.S. licenses, most accept international drivers' licenses. Foreign car rental agencies often require you to have an international drivers license.

Check with your insurance company before you leave to make certain you are covered for driving while abroad. You may need supplemental insurance for the duration of your visit.
